But the youngest son, named Boots, was persistent. He dragged a huge kneading trough all the way to the castle and begged for a job. He earned a simple job in the kitchen and soon was brought before the king. The king was told by the older brothers that Boots would be able to steal the Troll’s treasure, which included some silver ducks. Even though the story was untrue, Boots was unable to refuse the king and set off to the Troll’s house.

The rest of the story details the tricks that Boots plays on the Troll, which included stealing his silver ducks, a bed quilt decorated with gold and silver, and a gold harp.

Once again, the simple youngest sibling prevails!
